The Worst Storms

At the end of each year, goals are written for both personal and professional.

When 2020 started, things were great.   January and February were by far the busiest they had ever been in ten years of being in business.

I also made a committment to myself to exercise at least three times a week and joined a gym to help me achieve that goal.

Excited about helping others and seeing the fruits of my labor for the last ten years coming to ripe fruition in my business gave me hope that the goals might possibly be achieved.

Fitting into a Size 6 dress for the first time in I cannot remember made me want to work out, eat right, and take better care of myself.

Then . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  March came and with it came Covid-19.

Suddenly, appointments stopped.

The gym closed.

The place where my husband works closed down.

Uncertainty and fear gripped me.

Goals were the furthest thing from my mind as I wondered how we would get through this storm.   It made me think of this quote:

Life’s roughest storms prove the strength of our anchors.

Our income did go down, but because we have gone through situations that caused us to plan ahead, we had more than enough to pay our bills, have a safe roof over our heads, and plenty of healthy food to nourish us.

After taking a Dave Ramsey’s financial peace course through our church several years ago, we implemented an emergency fund to help if something came up unexpectantly.   When our hot water heater broke down during the pandemic, we had the funds in place to replace it without going into debt.

Our anchors were in place and although worrying still happened, it made it much easier knowing the steps we took would help to shield us from this storm.

This pandemic also gave me another reason to cherish the passion I have of providing information and education on the insurance products offered through Balanced Care.

Insurance products such as Health and Medicare Insurance that provide financial protection when you need it the most.

Life Insurance for when the unthinkable happens to a loved one.

Insurance companies really stepped up to help individuals and families affected by Covid-19 with co-pays for testing as well as providing longer grace periods for premium payments for those individuals that were out of work.    They provided an anchor to many clients who were also scared and worried about losing their coverage.

My goals were definitely put on hold during this storm, however, remaining focused on the anchors that were sustaining us helped in ways I never thought of.

The anchor of:

  • Faith
  • Love of my family
  • Passion for my work, what it does for the people I am blessed to work with, and how it provides for us financially
  • Our health and well being

There is no doubt that fear and uncertainty during these last few months have left many including myself feeling overwhelmed.

Knowing that you have a strong anchor with insurance products designed to protect you during the storms in life can provide the security and peace of mind when you truly need it the most.
