Supporting One Another

Supporting One Another

More than ever, I hope this blog post finds you safe and healthy.   We are thinking of you and thank you for being part of Balanced Care’s family.

There is so much advice out there and while I am no expert on how to keep you safe, here’s a few tips that I hope are helpful during this time:

  • Be kind to yourself – With so many changes coming at each of us including staying at home, children not in school, and many losing their source of income, many emotions will hit you in ways you may not expect.   This reminds me of grief when waves of emotion hit us at any given moment such as anger, frustration, fear, and sadness.     These are all normal and although they will pass, they are real emotions.   Be kind to yourself by realizing that none of us will do this quarantine perfect.   We are all learning as we go along and will do better when we support one another without judgement.
  • It goes without saying that washing your hands is instrumental to stopping the spread of the coronavirus.   Germs get into our body through the eyes, nose, and mouth and can make us sick.  While we all wash our hands after using the bathroom, it’s also important to do so after touching objects (cell phones, door knobs, metal, etc.), sneezing or coughing, shaking hands, touching an animal, or caring for someone who is ill.   After stopping in to a grocery store and/or gas station, it might be easy to sip on a drink you purchased there and/or have a snack you just bought at the store.   Don’t do this unless you have thoroughly washed your hands.
  • Get plenty of sleep – People who do not get adequate sleep are more likely to get sick from a virus.   Lack of sleep can also affect how fast you recover if you do get sick.   The recommended amounts of sleep are for children 1 – 17 years old – 10 hours a night plus a nap for little ones – For adults over the age of 18 – seven to nine hours a night are recommended.
  • Eating well – This subject could go on for days, but it’s most important to include as many fruits and vegetables into your diet which can help build up your immunity system.
  • Reach out to a loved one – although we cannot be together, we all thrive on social interaction.   Reach out to a loved one with a phone call, a card, or send them a text.    While you are on the phone with them, play a favorite song and dance together.   Send someone a cute joke to make them smile.   Little things like this go far to help spread joy and help to calm down fears.
  • If you are able, take a walk outside, do some garden work, or turn on YouTube and do a little exercise.   Movement helps to boost energy, reduce anxiety, helps you to relax and can help you to get a better night’s sleep.

Part of Balanced Care’s mission statement is that life can bring us challenging paths.   Family and careers can be challenging enough when things are going well.

We are certainly on a challenging path right now, but please know that I am here to help.

As always, thank you doesn’t even come close to the appreciation I have for you as you support me in my business.

You allow me to see the beauty in the world and the beauty in the hearts of the ones that I have the privilege to serve.
