Schedule for your Health – Part 1

Have you ever started the day off by:

  • Oversleeping
  • Searching for a piece of clothing
  • Searching for a missing shoe
  • Dropping a plate full of food on the floor
  • Made coffee, but forgot to add to add the coffee

If you haven’t, you are certainly doing better than myself.

With the current crisis of not meeting one to one with clients, some of my days have looked like this:

  • Staying in my bathrobe until late in the morning and on some days, early afternoon
  • Not feeling motivated to get chores done that normally just are done without even thinking about it
  • Watching the news for far too long leaving me feeling defeated

Whether starting the day chaotic or starting the day without a specific schedule, the results can ultimately be the same – feeling disorganized, messy, and in shambles.    As someone who normally does much better with a schedule and realizing that more gets done with that schedule, it never ceases to amaze me how much better I feel because of it.

Please don’t get me wrong – I am not passing judgement on anyone.   It goes without saying that I have tried with all my might to keep a schedule and even when attempting to do it “right”, I fall short on many occasions.

When this happens, my sleep pattern is off leaving me feeling more stressed and anxious.

My choices for meals become less healthy which in turns promotes sitting around and/or not moving my body.   This turns into another night of not sleeping well and the hamster wheel just keeps on turning around in circles going in a direction that doesn’t support good health.

On the other hand, when sticking to a schedule even on days when you have no appointments, there is a sense of peace throughout the day.   When resting my head on the pillow at night, a good night’s sleep leaves me feeling more energized and in a much greater mood to face the next day.

Facing so much uncertainty these last few months and for seems like it will be for awhile longer, taking care of ourselves to promote good health is of vital importance.

As Steve Maraboli states, “Nothing is worth diminishing your health.  Nothing is worth poisoning yourself into stress, anxiety, and fear”.
