Through The Eyes Of An Employer

The telephone rang a few weeks ago and on the other end was an employer unsatisfied with his present supplemental insurance carrier.   The employer had reached out to this carrier multiple times and each time, promises were made but never followed through on.     The surprise to me was that this had gone on for five years.  Needless to say, they were looking to meet with Balanced Care to look at many different options.

Balanced Care works with individuals and businesses that are in need of Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, and Supplemental Insurance plans such as Accident and Cancer Insurance plans.    When working with businesses, it my job to find them plans that meets the needs of both the employer and employees.      It has become more and more evident to me just how badly a business owner/employer wants to protect their employees and even though thier bottom line is important, it truly is not their number #1 priority.

Let’s take the time to examine what an employer really does.   Employers stimulate the economy.  Employers provide employees with a means of supporting families.  Employers provide help within a community.  Employers pay more than just a salary every week.   What do I mean by this?

Balanced Care provides employers and employees with a look into their hidden paycheck.  Each week, employees receive their paychecks and deposit their hard earned cash.  Balanced Care wants to share with you an even deeper look into a hidden paycheck and have you see it through an employer’s eyes.

For an example, Balanced Care will use an annual salary of $28,000.  If you were earning $28,000 a year, this is what your hidden paycheck would look like:

Hidden Paycheck                                                                                      Value to Employee

Social Security                                                                                                            $2,142.00

Worker’s Compensation                                                                                               $525.00

Unemployment                                                                                                            $525.00

Three Week Vacation                                                                                                  $1,615.60

7 Holidays                                                                                                                    $753.20

5 Sick Days                                                                                                                  $535.00

Group Term Life Insurance  (2 X salary)                                                            $56,000.00 worth of coverage ($240)

Amount Section 125 Qualified $50,000                                                                         $80.00

Dental                                                                                                                        $276.00

Medical                                                                                                                      $3,769.44

Total Value of Hidden Paycheck Value                                                                        $10,461.24

Percentage of all “Hidden” Benefits from Annual Salary                                            38%

Total Employee Value                                                                                         $38,461.24

As this is shown time and time again to employees of a business, they have a new appreciation for their employer.      This reveals to them the dedication their employer has to them and just how much they are truly paid.     As spoken about earlier, the business that called on me to look at their benefits because their present insurance carrier had not bothered to follow up with them in five years was concerned.    His number one concern was not only the extremely bad customer service he received, but that his employees may someday have to use those supplemental benefits and where would the customer service be then?     Would they receive a benefit when they would need it the most?

Through this employer’s eyes, this is what I saw.       An employer that cared, an employer that was dedicated, an employer that was making sure his employees were protected, and most of all, an employer that wasn’t looking only after his best interests.     To me, the value of his “hidden” paycheck was more than just money.      He looked at his business through his employees eyes and ended up with employees seeing where they worked through his.
