Logos are important to any business for a variety of reasons.
When purchasing Balanced Care, it came with a website, business cards, and letterhead. Although the color palette was the same, there was something missing.
There was no logo.
There wasn’t any brand that everyone recognized with the exception of the name, Balanced Care, so I began to research into finding a logo that resonated with me.
The only goal that came to mind was that the logo had to share why my faith was important to me. What came next was kind of a surprise.
I was warned not to share my faith.
I was warned that it could turn people away.
Being new to business and wanting the business to succeed, I listened to the warnings. I didn’t share my faith, however, I could pick a logo that had special meaning to me without offending anyone with my faith.
My logo would be on my business card, my website, and throughout social media without really knowing why it was so important to me.
That is until now.
First of all, the beach is one of my favorite places to be so it had to be part of my business. The sounds of the water, wind, and waves can relax me in a second. The ocean is never ending, always moving, and deep very much like Christ’s love for us.
Walking barefoot on the beach always reminds me of the Footprints in the Sand poem where the last line states, “My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
I had thought about somehow including that poem into my logo, but it never worked.
Then one day, something did work.
I found the Legend of the Sand Dollar:
There’s a pretty little legend
That I would like to tell
Of the birth and death of Jesus
Found in this lowly shell
If you examine closely,
You’ll see that you find here
Four nail holes and a fifth one
Made by a Roman’s Spear.
On one side the Easter Lily,
Its center is the star
That appeared unto the wisemen
And led them from afar.
The Christmas poinsettia
Etched on the other side
Reminds us of His birthday
Our Happy Christmastide.
Now break the center open
And here you will release
The five white doves awaiting
To spread Good Will and Peace.
This simple little symbol,
Christ left for you and me
To help us spread his Gospel
Through all eternity.
I never want to alienate or offend anyone from working with me because of my faith, but I also cannot stop being who I am. God gave me the desire to share his love.
He created a sand dollar that would be exactly what was needed to share his love quietly while at the same time, extremely powerful.
