Follow the Yellow Brick Road

When I started my Medicare and Health Insurance consulting business in 2010, it was so exciting.   The passion of helping clients understand the complexity of a product that many times made no sense to them was something that brought me happiness to share.

What always shocked me were things that were said to me when I shared that I was now in business.

What was said?

You know, most small businesses fail in less than three years.

You are going to have to work hours and hours for very little pay.

There were other things as well, but let’s just say, they aren’t worth repeating.

The reality was that as excited as I was, there were some that didn’t share in that excitement.   I truly cannot blame them; some were most likely concerned and wanted to warn me of what could potentially go wrong.

The good news is that every statement that may have been designed to share truth or discourage only encouraged me to find out how to do things better.

That business continues today,  it has blessed me abundantly, and my prayer whenever meeting with a client is that my work blesses them.

The last year and a half have brought many changes to all of us and my business is no different.   I’ve witnessed big changes in our healthcare system and honestly, I’m concerned.

It has become more and more evident that we are losing primary care providers, specialists, and healthcare workers throughout the country.

Because of this and the changes I was witnessing, I began researcing how to take better care of my health for myself and my family.

That research led me down a path – I’m calling it the Yellow Brick Road.

It led me down the road of peer reviewed studies and seeing how oxidative stress damages our cells which can contribute to health problems.

It led me to a business that I could already hear the collective sighs and comments I heard before if I was to go into it.

But, like the Medicare consulting business,  this was information that needed to be known.

It needed to be shared.

Our health is at risk and not sharing it would be a disservice to others.

And so, like the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, I used my brain to make a decision.

Like the Tinman, I used my heart to share my passion for health and well being.

Like the Cowardly Lion, I put my fears to the side and became a little more courageous.

Yes, I’m still working my Medicare and Health Insurance consulting business sharing what I know to make it easier to understand.

But I’m also sharing encouragement.

Encouragement for your health, your well being, and even encouragement if being in business has ever crossed your mind.

Taking a little step on the yellow brick road can open the possibilities to being an entrepreneur.

It can open the possibilities of supporting your immune system and keeping your body healthier.

It can show you what Oz told Dorothy – You have had the power all along.
