In the summer of 1999, my husband and I sat down with our insurance agent to discuss both our life and disability insurance needs. After sitting down with her several times and getting to know her, it didn’t take long for the two of us to become good friends. She casually mentioned that she thought the insurance industry would be a good fit for me, but at the time I couldn’t see myself selling anything especially insurance. With some persuasion, she talked me into taking a few insurance classes. I became licensed and worked part time a few evenings a week meeting with clients to discuss their life insurance needs. I found out that I enjoyed meeting with families and really became to love knowing that the insurance product they were purchasing would provide them with protection and peace of mind. Little did I realize that the products I was now selling would provide protection for my own family very soon.
In November of 2003, my husband, John, was injured while working at an automotive shop. An exhaust component fell from a car and hit him in the back of his head leaving him with a severe head injury. The injury put him out of work for three years and ended his career. Because we had the right insurance products in place, I was able to concentrate on getting him the medical help he needed while knowing that a disability check would help to cover our expenses. Although this was an extremely difficult time for us, I came to realize that the experience I had with selling insurance enabled me to be better prepared for this situation. I was able to clearly communicate with insurance companies and get the help my husband needed and deserved. I knew what the insurance companies wanted when submitting claims and most importantly, I learned how to work with them instead of against them.
It was at this time that I pursued the insurance industry on a full time basis and began working with health insurance products. I looked for opportunities to network with other business owners as well as other professionals in the insurance industry. While at a local networking meeting, I met the previous owner of Balanced Care, Cecelia Esposito. Cecelia knew the insurance business inside and out and I highly respected her as a business owner. When she approached me about the possibility of working with her, I was so thankful for the opportunity to learn from her. We worked together for two years until the day she let me know she wanted to retire. When she offered the business to me, my immediate response was, “I am not ready.” Cecelia felt and knew that I was ready and in time, I began to be excited about the opportunity and continue today to be forever grateful to her.
Since purchasing the business in 2010, the health insurance industry has seen many changes. While other insurance brokers were running from the health insurance industry, Balanced Care was embracing the opportunities. Four years ago, one of those opportunities came to fruition when Fred Roberts of Associated Brokers hired me as his health insurance consultant. Fred has been in the insurance business for 45 years and although he is still active in the industry, he needed help keeping up with all the changes in health care for his clients. Even though the changes have been challenging, I truly believe it is my calling to help another family secure the coverage they need. All I have to do is think about my husband and how far he has come because of the insurance products we had in place and it helps me to overcome any challenge the day may bring.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, flyfishing, running, scrapbooking, cooking, reading, gardening, watching the Red Sox and most importantly, enjoying my family. I do my best to live out my Catholic faith falling short most days, but always start and end the day with thanks for what God does each and every day. I am a certified Soul Core fitness instructor which pairs low impact stretching and exercises with prayers of the Rosary. My husband, John, and I have been married for 35 years, have two grown sons, Michael and Andrew, and a beautiful seven year old granddaughter named Rosslyn. Each morning as I awake, I thank God for another day, hug my husband tight, and never take one moment for granted. Each day is a gift and it is to be treasured.

He hired Terri as his health insurance consultant in 2014 to help him with his book of health insurance business. With all the changes in the health insurance industry, he was looking for someone to provide service for his existing clients, but also help with questions that were coming up for new clients regarding the Affordable Care Act. This turned out to be not only a win for Fred, but for Terri as well. Under Fred’s guidance and mentorship, Terri has been able to help more clients with their Life Insurance needs and is honored to be able to associate herself with someone who truly is a “Life Insurance Guru”.
Fred lives in Rochester, NH, with his wife, Donna with whom he has been married for 60 years.
